One other fine point is to add

demand idle 600

to your PPP configuration in the extra options section and mark the
interface as activate on boot. Now, it will auto-dial and hang up after 10
minutes of inactivity.

You might also want to install SQUID for a proxy server. It will help some
for your usage.

You set the gateway of your LAN machines to be the IP of eth0 on your
ppp box.  Your ppp box will know to route requests to your lan, so you
don't have to set up routing on the ppp box.  You will have to set up
NAT (Network Address Translation) or masquerading on the ppp box since
your ISP probably doesn't give out more than one IP per connection.
