[lug] strange bash behavior

Hello all,

   Wondering if anyone can help me figure some wierd bash behavior: when I
use the or cat less command, I get about 20 lines of 'bash: a: command not
found', then the results of the command. I do use the 'a' as an alias in
my .alias file; but I have not alias cat or less myself, and do not see it
aliased at the system level.  Any clues appreciated!
