One thing  you can do to add to any info is to check out the man page on
ksymoops. Assuming your System.map is installed for the kernel, and a
decompressed version is available (vmlinux instead of vmlinuz or
bzImage), you can save the Oops to a file and it'll give something like
a stack frame for the kernel calls at the time of Oops. It's useful when
trying to figure out if it is a known bug or not. Any time you do get
this, and want info, it's also important to know the exact kernel, and
if you known the Oops is related to some particular operation or
hardware, to mention that (even the mention that it was idle is probably
important, you might want to mention if it was idle in console mode or
X11).

FYI, kernel 2.4.6 was released, and it has a ton of fixes.
