If he needs the ahaxxx module, then that could be the problem.
I had all sorts of troubles with it under RedHat 7.1. It will
work for small data transfers, such as Inquiry. It breaks badly
when doing high data amounts such as Reads/Writes.

If you've been unsuccessful at installing 7.1, I'm assuming you still have
6.0 on it.
If that's true, which module is being used to handle the SCSI host adapter?
