[lug] Mouse Problems in X

I have a problem with my mouse in X Windows.

I have a Micron Trasport GX+ that has a Synaptics Touchpad.  The problem
is that when I go into XWindows I get a 1"x1" square for a mouse pointer
instead of an arrow.

I've tried everything that I can think of to resolve it.  I have this
problem when Running Redhat 7.0, 7.1, 7.1.93 and Mandrake 7.2 and 8.0

It works wonderfully in Windows 2000 though.

Any ideas?
