This is correct and I really dislike that idea as well (I got one of those 
access points as well).  But they also used to ship Linux drivers on their 
driver diskettes for NICs some time ago.  So they try.  I just had better luck 
with their network switches.  They are definitely a low end vendor but their 
hardware seems to be reliable and affordable.
