Is there a quick way to get a complete set of binaries
from xfree86.org?
There have been a couple of times when I wanted to
download a new set.
I've always ended up downloading the files one at a
time from one of the ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86
subdirectories.
Since there are many files, this takes a lot of
pointing and clicking, hitting return, etc.
I have tried ftp'ing to xfree86.org, logging in
anonymously, and trying to download all the files with
mget. But when I ftp in, I can't even get a content
listing of the directories, nor can I get any files.
It just hangs for a minute or so and then produces a
carriage return.
Recently, I also tried
wget -r -l20
ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.1.0/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc21/
but this just produced something like this over and
over again:
(try:15) =>
`ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.1.0/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc21/.listing'
Connecting to ftp.xfree86.org:21... connected!

==> TYPE I ... done. ==> CWD
pub/XFree86/4.1.0/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc21 ...
done.
==> PORT ... done. ==> LIST ...
Error in server response, closing control
connection.
Retrying.
I noticed that "wget -r xfree86.org" does work, but
that would download everything instead of just the
particular subdirectory I'm interested in.
Any suggestions?
