[lug] CD writing

CD writing is something I have mostly done under SuSE. I did do it once under
RH 7.0 but didn't write many CDs with that system. Under SuSE 7.1 and 7.2
things always worked out of the box. No need to recompile the kernel, ide-scsi
loaded as modules, and no time outs or problems that I could report.

Could there possibly be a kernel problem with your (and Chip's) systems? I have
done this CD writer setup now on 3 different systems (running SuSE 7.2) and
never ran into problems. This brings back to mind the different kernel patching
activities that the commercial Linux vendors are doing.

FYI - most of the (IDE) CD writers I set up were Mitsumi devices.
