Hello,
Last November I ordered a dual Pentium Linux workstation
with a US Robotics 56k v.90 modem installed. The Linux
distribution is Red Hat 7.0. The modem has been working
fine until ...
About a week ago I noticed that when I boot this system
ALL the phones in our house are knocked out - no dial
tone whatsoever. I suspect that it is the modem, but
thus far I have not been able to diagnose if this is
so. (Or, alternatively it may that the driver has been
corrupted.) When I power down, the phones return to
normal.
I can query the modem with the KDE modem tool and it
reports that the modem is responding and in working
order. Then when I use KPPP from KDE it reports no
dial tone.
My question is, has anybody ever come across this problem
before?
Thanks,
Dave Stepaniak
