That's possible.  I have installed it in a 'shared' environment, as 
root.  use the CLI argument '/net' (yes, that is SLASH N E T -- don't 
ask why) when you install as root.  Then, after that, you need to do a 
local installation, running, as the user, $STAROFFICEROOT/program/setup.
