Running Debian, I've installed Imagemagick 4.2.8-9 and libmagick4g-lzw
4.2.8-2
Using the display command, I can view a compressed gif file just fine.
Using the convert command, this is what I get.
$ convert Mid2P1Key.gif test.pdf
convert: LZW library is not available.
I can convert to other formats, but I'm really interested in pdf. My
understanding was that the lzw library was supposed to make lzw
compression available. Do I need something else? The output from
Magic-config gives:
$ Magick-config --libs
-L/usr/local/lib -lMagick -ltiff -ljpeg -lpng -lXext -lXt -lX11 -lz
-lpthread -lm
An alternative question might be: Can I get a compressed pdf any other
way?
Thanks,
Todd
