[lug] bash script newbie

so im trying to rename a file with the current date
hers my go at it ...doesnt work..

#! /bin/bash
NAME=$(date +"%x %r %Z")
echo $NAME
cat /home/taproot/htmtest > /home/taproot/$NAME


please help
