[lug] Lame server on?

I looked up the responsible party WORLD.STD.COM for the navigator.org domain
using WHOIS and called long distance to Cambridge Mass. I was forwarded to
a "help desk" who had no idea what I was talking about. Basically, if it
wasn't an 8-none-1 question, it was out of his realm. I got an e-mail
address from him for technical questions and sent the significant
information including the error message and the comments regarding the
authoritative DNS via e-mail. The response I got back was basically, "We
don't see a problem."
Fortunately, as far as I can tell it's their problem, not mine.

My employer's ISP has been promoting new servers - where one can rent a
piece of one, or the whole thing.
The ISP represents these servers as being bullet-proof (they _do_ run
Linux), and expertly maintained.
So it was a little disconcerting to see "lame server" messages in the log
after we browsed the ISP's promotional site (if they can't set up DNS
properly, can we trust them to do the REST of the job well?)
