For $5/mo you can get extraordinarily reliable and high speed hosting at
  http://www.your-site.com

You can't get around domain registration fees, but I recall when I
looked around before that they are one of the lowest prices available.
I've had battlefieldlinux.com there for a long time. For an extra fee
you can get other things like MySQL and SSL. 50 MB of disk and 6
GB/month of transfer for that price. You get something like 25 email
accounts in this same price, no extra fee. Although it is somewhere in
the east USA, I've never had a problem with it being laggy (I think they
might have redundant OC-3's). Comes complete with a unix type shell, it
runs on Sun hardware, not a scrap of MS stuff.
