[lug] OpenSSH 3.1 build on RH 6.2 anyone?

Well, I know RH 6.2 is getting old and moldy, but anyone have any luck
rebuilding OpenSSH 3.1 from SRPM's on it?

A friend is asking, and I haven't tried it.  He says it's blowing up on
cipher.o ... he's pretty sure he has a complete and happy RH 6.2 build
environment.

Any tips, hints, tricks, pointers or otherwise, appreciated.  :-)
