I played with Mailman and Exim a while back. It is supposed to work, but
I had problems and ended up switching to Postfix. If you haven't looked
at the Mailman/Exim howto yet this would be a place to start:

The problem as I remember it was that mailing lists usually make use of
the mail /etc/alias file with include statements. My vague recollection
is that Exim uses this file in a different way if at all, and this seemed
to be the sticking point.
Anyway, the howto will hopefully be new information for you.
