ditto here -- their customer support was wretched (and pretty arrogant
about it, too.)

i have a fair bit of netgear gear, and i've been pretty happy with it
so far. based just on that d-link experience above, i'd avoid their
stuff out of sheer spite/retaliation.
one thing you'll want to consider, since you're getting into big
switch territory, is looking at the "managed" (SNMP-capable) switches.
that's getting into the top end of the netgear components, and into
their "big brother" bay network gear.
