[lug] GRUB: Hiding boot messages?

Hello,

  With lilo, I found a couple of things that would hide the start-up
boot messages.  Does anyone know if there is something similar that can
be used with GRUB?  Animations would be great but with lilo tended to
require a linear frame-buffer.  Static images would be ok as well.
