Hi Ron,

While this might be overkill, could you upgrade to a newer version of
Red Hat?  I'm running 7.3 and the Open Office 1.0.0 menus and file
selection pop-ups work on my machine.  Note that the fonts in the menu
boxes are *quite* ugly, but they do work.

Also, I have a copy of RH 7.3 that I'll be happy to lend to you.
