Hi,

Just guessing but i think alot of redhat users might have the popular
boards from asus A7V266 and A7V266-E (and others proabley)  with the
VIAKT266 chipset. Under redhat 7.2 to get full usage of the ata100
controller ( not the raid in case of av7266-e) patches will be needed
found on the via homepage ( just try hdparm -t /dev/hd* and you will see)
or....
upgrade to RedHat 7.3,

with 7.3 out put of hdparm -i /dev/hda2
/dev/hda2:
Timing buffered disk reads:  64 MB in  1.77 seconds = 36.16 MB/sec

7.2 patched......28 MB/sec

7.2 unpatched.....8 MB/sec

When i had a win2k partion on this board it never ran as good as it
does now under REDHAT 7.3

also under 7.3  ATI radeon support seems to have gotten 10 times better , 
7.2 from 7.1 was a 100% improvment for radeon.
now Unreal Tournament runs like a bat out of hell, so does Rune 2 (really 
cool)!!!
