That's normally the last message you would see before the system would
reboot.  If something is whacked up with your APM, the kernel may not be
able to tell the hardware to reboot.  So, at this point you'd need to do a
reset.

There is a special kernel setting which tries to work around this -- if it
bugs you enough, you may wan to try building a new kernel and see if
different values in there make it work.
