[lug] Printing problems RH7.3

Hi,
I ran the 'service' command you suggested and then tried printing a text
file with lpr. I succeeded in waking the printer, but it didn't print
the file. Those middle four pages contained more of the same of the
rest of the document as far as I can tell. In any case, it doesn't even
print text files now. Strange.
For some reason it is removing the print jobs the instant I send them.
See the following three commands:
~>date
Fri Sep 20 16:40:14 MDT 2002
~>lpr -Php8 fpk.txt
~>lpq -Php8
Printer: lp0 at space 'hp8' (dest /var/spool/lpd/lp0 at 140.172.144.17)
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Status: job 'cfA655space.srrb.noaa.gov' removed at 16:40:14.979
JetDirect lpd: no jobs queued on this port
I tried removing the printer and reinstalling but I get the same
results. I'm wondering if a recent up2date may have mucked things up.
Anyway, its late on Friday so I'm going to just pick this up next week.
I may not be in the office until later on in the week so please don't
think suggestions have been ignored.
Cheers,
Gary
