Just a friendly $0.02, your previous posting just
opened you up to a the defending side of any civil
suit your present employer may (or may not) wish to
file at a minimum.
Colorado passed a law a few months back that makes
any emails send by an originator considered a "legal
document". Basically (in a nutshell) this considers
emails the same as if one were to USPS Certified mail
a written letter to a receiving party. Since this is
a "public list"...we, you see my point, anyone can consider
this letter sent to him/her.
Also, I suspect there was an initial exchange of words
on what your tasks were to be for this particular assignment.
You were asked to perform these tasks on their equipment,
which 9 times out of 10, means any coding (unless otherwise
stated in contracts or negotiations, and normally then put
into writing and signed by both parties) belongs to the end
client or employer.
Your email to a public list such as this could in the end
come back at you via this employer against you. There is
reason for immediate termination of your services presented,
as well as possible other recourse as well, civil and criminal
(remember, under the Patriot Act, anything considered as
"hacking" is now considered an act of treason). Not to mention,
any prospective and future employer will not take some comments
made lightly, I know I do not.
Just some $0.02 on the situation. No personal nor company
stance or opinion represented here.
Sincerely,
Crawford Rainwater
