Lots of folks on my mailing lists had troubles with plain vanilla things and 
system calls that were just broken. Libraries that didn't work.  Correct 
code that got compile errors.   I got tired of dealing with it - and I don't 
run Red Hat.

Either the whole point was to make it incompatible with everything else in 
the world, or it was a massive, inexcusible judgment error (and not their 
first).

It's what they're repeating with trying to make their own KDE, since they 
can't really get GNOME to stabilize.

Given that they are doing it again, I lean towards the "that's the whole 
point" explanation.
