I haven't had a problem with port 80 or 993 (imaps), or outbound SMTP.
Some brain-dead sites refuse my mail, though, since they are using
lame anti-spam techniques like assuming everyone on a cable modem
or DSL line is a chain-letter spammer, not a legitimate small business
or mixed-use user. (This is one of my pet peeves - of course I could
bounce my mail through my legitimate ISP accounts, but why should I
be forced to involve a third party in my correspondence?)
Yet, curiously, AT&T seems to block SSH (port 22). I don't know if
they block inbound SMTP - since I have a dynamic IP address I don't
have it set up. (I only use 80 to read documentation on my stupid
Windows box at work, and 993 to check my email.)
I would suggest doing a traceroute from both sides - are you sure
you have the right IP address? - and physically checking the cable
inside of your house. For me to turn on my services, I have to
open the port on the Linksys box *and* in my per-system firewall
rules *and* (often) add the service to my /etc/hosts.allow file.
