This will hopefully change rather quickly once kernel 2.6 comes out.  The
current development kernels have changes that make SCSI emulation
unnecessary and the are patched versions of cdrecord available that make
use of this.  AFAIK the changes will be going into cdrecord's main line of
development, though that may take a while since cdrecord emphasizes SCSI
for portability reasons.
