jd, up2date isn't the only option for automated updates. Because
up2date requires registration and doesn't allow me to choose
faster/closer mirrors, I tend to favor programs like 'rhupdate' or
'autoupdate'. You can find these and others like them on freshmeat.
Both should work fine for alpha releases.
