My Radeon 7500 (PCI) works okay with the open source driver that comes 
with RH 7.3, driving a Samsung 171P over DVI.  There are definitely some 
cosmetic driver bugs, but nothing fatal that I've found.

As for 3D, I don't know about performance with real games, but most of 
the glx demos (glxgears, 3D screen savers, etc.) do run well, as do 
Chromium and Tux Racer.
