I just tried it on my machine and used your "contenst" and it said no misspelled words
found.  then I did Edit->Spell Checking Languages->English and then checked again
and it complained about "jd"  Looks like our friends at ximian didn't bother to set 
a default language for spell checking. 

once I check/select a language, it also underlines all the misspellings.
