i dont know... but IMHO gnorpm was not very helpfull.

between..

rpm -q apache                ### query for package
rpm -qa | grep mplay         ### list all pkgs and the grep...
rpm -ivh new_rpm.rpm         ### install verbose hash
rpm -e old_rpm.rpm           ### remove
rpm -f update_to_old_rpm.rpm ### freshen - update

couple that with up2date and your in :)
