Hi Terry,
As Hugh pointed out, you normally are able to get the manfid:
[root at eddy root]# cardctl ident
Socket 0:
no product info available
Socket 1:
product info: "NETGEAR", "FA510", "Fast Ethernet CardBus Card", "1.00"
manfid: 0x9513, 0x0081
function: 6 (network)
[root at eddy root]#
and then enter these values into /etc/pcmcia/config to specify the
driver for that particular card.
I suggest you take the card and laptop to the next Hacking Society
meeting:
http://hackingsociety.org/
where they're very likely to have a wireless access point, extra cards
for you to try, and folks with plenty of experience. Its where I got my
first doses of WiFi-on-Linux! ;-)
