An excellent point.  Moreover, recent versions of X don't require XFS at 
all, because they have built-in font servers (including TrueType 
support via the Freetype library).  I think I remember reading 
somewhere that you should avoid using XFS if you can help it-- it's 
just another service to worry about. ;)
