I decided that doing a single rip to make backup discs and oggs was
unrealistic.

I've written a bash script for doing backup discs with cdrdao and
cdparanoia.  If anyone is interested it is at http://hutnick.com/dupecd.

A python utility called "jack" seems to be just the ticket for making
oggs.  See http://www.home.unix-ag.org/arne/jack/.
