I strongly recommend that you try Knoppix
(http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-old.html) instead.  It is a "live
CD" distribution, meaning that you put the CD in your PC and reboot and
the system boots a pretty respectably Linux distro without any
modifications to your existing system.
