[lug] Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(22, 5) {no filter}

Ok today seems to be my day of issues.

Now I am getting the following error:

Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

Should I add an init option to LILO? If so what init=/dev/hdc5?

You were right! I guess I just assumed that IDE support was built into the system.... Silly me.

The problem probibly isn't the ramdisk...

when it says 'unknown-block(22,5)' it likely means block device 22,5,
which is hdc5. Ie, the master ide drive on the second ide channel,
partition number 5.

Usually this sort of message results from not having the IDE driver
support built into your kernel.

Did you enable ide support when you configured the kernel?
Is hdc5 your / partition?

Under RedHat/Fedora based setups, you will want to use 'mkinitrd' to
make your inital ram disk. If thats having issues you can use that
command to make a new one.
