Well... you can still ping it, but it will no longer server 
mail/dns/etc..  the console (off a kvm) no longer responds as well. The 
only solution was to use the power button.

No hardware or server errors seem to show up in any of the log files.

Most recently, the last entry on the frozen console was a denied request 
to port 123 (ntp).  The AMANDA processes appeared to have come and gone 
without incident before the system froze once again.


the weekend before last I had ran memtest86 (only did one pass at the 
time -- it took an hour).  But it reported no problems.
