HGST (hitachi / ibm) requires failed drive diagnostics before they're RLM
something as I recall.  Their diagnostics required a lengthy downtime to
run the diagnostics, which sucked as the system was running fine witht he
array in degraded mode.

I would avoide them for this reason alone.
