Good Afternoon,

We have an open position for a Linux Systems Administrator Level 2 the 
following describes the position:

Position Description

The Systems Administrator II position is a mid-level position that is 
responsible for the configuration, operation and maintenance of all 
UNIX/Linux systems within the assigned division or divisions. This 
includes installing, configuring and troubleshooting RedHat Linux, SUSE 
Linux, Sun Solaris, Hewlett Packard, and other operating systems as needed.

Level II Systems Administrators are expected to work somewhat 
independently while at the same time keeping supervisors aware of all 
relevant circumstances and activities. Level II Systems Administrators 
must display good judgment and provide solid application of tools and 
skills.

Position Duties

Primary Duties relating to UNIX/Linux.
· Install and configure servers and desktops
· Install, support and upgrade operating systems
· Install and configure peripheral devices
· Secure and patch all systems at least quarterly
· Install third party software
· Troubleshoot OS, software and hardware problems
· Work with Networking staff to resolve network issue on/to hosts
· Work with Windows support staff to integrate Linux/UNIX and Windows 
using Samba and VMWare

In addition, the incumbent is expected to prepare the following 
documentation and reports:
· Draft monthly report.
· Document the implementation of new systems

Position Qualifications & Requirements

Education/Experience:
Applicant must have a minimum of 2 or more years of work experience as a 
Systems Administrator in a heterogeneous UNIX environment. Systems 
Administration experience with at least two of the following operating 
systems is required: Hewlett Packard, Solaris, RedHat Linux or SUSE 
Linux. Applicant must have experience with computing environments 
connected to the Internet and understand the associated security 
implications. Applicant should be able to demonstrate previous 
experience supporting a development oriented user community working with 
C, Perl, Ruby and Java programming languages. Applicant should also 
understand aspects of shell scripting and troubleshooting problems 
related to users' environments.
