[lug] ide-scsi emulation and CD ripping

I googled on this and found a number of people asking, but
no solutions. I can't get KAudioCreator or k3b to rip CD's
(as user, works as root) while ide-scsi emulation is on. If
I turn off ide-scsi emulation, then I can't burn a CD.

I _have checked the usual permissions:
/dev/cdrom
/dev/scd0
/dev/sr0
/dev/hdb ( in my case )

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
