More info: I get it when looking at the documents with 'gv'.  It 
looks like Mozilla is throwing in some nonstandard fonts.  It 
looks like they're "OpenSymbol".  It looks like that might be a 
TTF font that's embedded in the PS.  I wonder if that's the 
feature that requires 2015 or greater, or if the GPL version of gs 
recognizes it.
