I've never seen a reason given that Network Solutions is so expensive, except
for the same reason AOL can still get away with charging $24/month for dialup:
some people don't know any better.
I've been using Godaddy pretty much since they started, and while I haven't
had any problems, the web interface and new registration interface has gone
downhill. You'll spend way too many minutes just trying to figure out where
the "No thanks" buttons are for the seemingly endless pages of ads for
related services they'll throw at you. They are cheap though, and will
probably still be around in 10 years unlike the other budget registrars I've
used who went belly-up.
