[lug] xmms frequently dies with cds

Dear All,

Maybe someone can help me solve this annoying problem.
I use a Linux workstation running Suse 9.1.
When I listen to cds with xmms it dies  after a few songs. 
Sometimes its plays the whole disk sometimes it doesn't.
Most of the cds are in perfect condition.

Any ideas why this happens. further more is there another cd player for
Linux that supports digital extraction?
