Ahh, but that also means two different MBR's that can each point 
anywhere. The trick is to find a scheme that lets me point at the same 
/boot/. I could possibly use two /boot/'s, but it's unappealing. But I 
suppose I could make two entries for each boot to point at the same 
bootup partition, but only one would be valid and really work, naming 
would always be correct for 1 entry and incorrect for the other...and 
that assumes I'm able to point at the one /boot/. I think if I want to 
do this I'm going to have to have independent /boot/ for each MBR, one 
on scsi, one on ide. And thus also two copies of initrd, two copies of 
kernels, so on. Which might not be a bad idea considering that one of 
them can be used as a rescue system.
