[lug] looking for softlink generation software

I remember seeing somewhere a description of some software that would
take as input a directory sturcture populated with files and generate
from it a directory structure populated with absolute softlinks to all
of those files. Now I need it and I can't find it or even remember its
name. Does anyone know where it can be found?

I'm particularly interested a version that runs with/under Debian.
