Do you have any links for the 3rd party solutions to making new VM's?

The VMWare Server is called exactly that... VMWare Server Beta. It is
their old VMWare GSX product in the previous terminology. I got an
e-mail from them today saying the free Beta version I downloaded (well,
I got a license key for it from them but haven't installed it yet), will
"expire" on March 17th because they're releasing an upgrade already.

VMWare Workstation on Linux paired up with any of the VNC servers for X
-- especially those based off of TightVNC with better compression --
makes for an interesting "log into it from anywhere and run any OS"
networked machine. I can (with some slowness and pain... GRIN...) VPN
into the location the linux machine is located at, fire up a highly
compressed VNC session over a slow link to that location to get the
Linux desktop and do anything in Linux I want, and then fire up VMWare
in X to launch any number of OS images. It's nifty.
