You're absolutely right. Running the 'ntpd' daemon will keep your clock
synchronized with the given NTP server, but it will intentionally only
skew your clock by tiny increments (so you don't have sudden jumps in
time). Using 'ntpdate' will update your clock to the correct time, no
matter what its old setting.
