Just another word in favor of HP from me. We had a multifunction Epson
that came free with an iMac from CompUSA. It never worked very well: it
had paper feed problems, and since we don't print constantly, it was
always having ink problems.
I have a HP PSC 2500, which is a multi-function inkjet with 802.11
wireless. It has always worked well, and when it has had ink problems,
wiping the head with a wet cloth has fixed it (as per directions), or
replacing the ink cartridge. It prints nicely, it scans nicely, it has
support for all sorts of memory cards (handy for scanning without a
computer) and it has good Linux support.
It took me a while but I finally followed directions and got printing
AND scanning working on my AMD-64 Gentoo laptop (over the network,
even!). In contrast, it still doesn't work from my Windows x64 / Vista
x64 system.
