What Linux version are you running?  What motherboard? What kernel?
Has the kernel been updated recently?

I 've been having issues lately with an Asus K8N - networking works
for a bit, then fails. Swapping out NICs did not fix the problem.

The latest Fedora kernel (2.6.17-1.2145) _seems_ to have solved the
problem for me.
