[lug] Laptop wake-up intermittently failing

I have a Thinkpad T41 with Kubuntu configured to sleep when I close
the lid. The problem is, after a handful of successful sleep/wake-up
cycles, it won't wake up. This happens without fail, usually around
the 4th or 5th time I try to wake up.

The sleep light will be on, and the battery light will simply blink.
Opening the lid and using the sleep toggle keys (fn+f4) does nothing.
I have to do a hard reboot. There's nothing in the syslog during the
time I tried to wake the computer.
