[lug] CentOS and newer packages

I'm looking at installing CentOS on a server (seen in
a previous post).  

Upon checking out their site, it appears that the
latest version for DL does not have current php or
mysql packages that i need to run on my webserver.

Can i obtain newer mysql and php packages for the
current release?

If so where and how?  I'm hoping that I don't have to
compile them but if so that's ok.

Sorry if these are simple questions but I am new to
CentOS.
